FAQs

How old do I need to be to rent a vehicle?

The minimum rental age for most vehicles is 21 years of age and, unlike other rental car companies, we don’t charge an excess if you’re under 25. How good is that?

What driver’s licence is required?

A full and valid driver’s licence must be presented at the time your vehicle is being collected. Your licence must include a clear photo, and keep in mind that probationary licences are not accepted. International customers must present a driver’s licence written in English, or alternatively, a valid international driving permit for translation purposes.

What is the minimum rental period?

The minimum rental period charged is 24 hours.

How do I pay for the rental service?

Payment needs to be made by credit card when collecting the vehicle and the card holder must be present. The estimated rental value will be charged upfront and a pre-authorisation is made for the applicable security bond. If the vehicle is returned undamaged and no additional charges apply (e.g refuelling etc.) then the pre-authorisation will be usually cancelled by the credit card issuer between 3 and 7 working days. Unfortunately we cannot accept AMEX and Diners Cards.

Do I need to return my rental vehicle with a full tank of fuel?

We recommend that you re-fuel your vehicle before returning it to avoid paying a re-fuelling surcharge. Alternatively, you can pre-purchase fuel from us for one less thing to worry about.

Is insurance included in the rental price?

Insurance is included on all commercial and passenger rental vehicles. A damage liability fee of $750 is standard in the event of an accident. You can also opt for a $0 excess by selecting our excess reduction option.

I’m planning on driving on some toll roads, what should I do?

If you have used, or intend to use a toll road, you will need to advise a Network Rentals Gold Coast staff member. This charge will then be added to your rental fee. If you travel on a toll road without notifying us, you may be charged a $35 administration fee as well as a late toll invoice by the relevant transport authority.

Can I hire a GPS and other extras?

A lot of our cars come with built in satellite navigation but if they don’t you may opt to add GPS. We also have other extras such as child safety seats or booster seats, these are subject to availability.

Where can I drive my rental, and can I take it off-road?

All vehicles are strictly to remain on sealed roads, meaning off-road driving is prohibited. For more information about where you can take your rental vehicle, speak to the team at the Network Rentals Surfers Paradise office. You are permitted to take your rental car on a ferry.

What happens if I need to cancel my rental vehicle?

We understand that things happen and your situation or plans may change. Therefore, we don’t charge a cancellation fee.

Can I return the vehicle early?

Yes, you can return your vehicle earlier than the selected drop off date.

What happens if I am late to pick up my rental vehicle?

We will attempt to contact you if you don’t arrive at the scheduled time. If we are unable to reach you and it has been an hour since your scheduled pick up time, we will cancel your booking.

What happens if I’m involved in an accident?

If you’re involved in an accident it’s important to remain as calm as possible and ensure you remove yourself from any potential danger. Gather the contact details (name, address, registration number) of all parties involved and if necessary contact the police and emergency services. Please call our office to report the accident on 1800 736 825 before driving the vehicle. If your rental vehicle is not able to be driven, please ensure it’s left in a safe place before leaving the scene.
